Position Description: The Highland County Health Department is accepting

applications for a Sanitarian in Training / Registered Sanitarian.  Applicant must have a current certificate of registration as a Registered Sanitarian (RS) or Sanitarian In Training (SIT) issued by the Ohio State Board of Sanitarian Registration or ability to obtain SIT status immediately.  RS status must be obtained within 3 years.  


Pay Range: $16.50 to $17.00 hourly, pay is commensurate with education and experience.  


Hours: Full-time, Non-exempt (38 hours per week /76 hours per pay)

Job Duties:


The Health Department is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to work in our Environmental Health Division.  This position will work under the supervision of the Environmental Health Director, and will work to support the various environmental health programs in place at the health department.  Job duties will include: 


Inspect food facilities for safe practices and operation

Inspect household sewage systems for proper operation and maintenance

Investigate public health nuisances

Generate and submit reports and inspection documents using a computer, digital camera, and other tools

Support other environmental health division programs as needed

Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:


·     Eligible for SIT/RS status in Ohio – Completed a 4-year degree with at least 45 quarter units or 30 semester units of science courses

·     Be able to lift 75 lbs. 

·     Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license, insurance, and reliable daily transportation

·     Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions

·     Possess excellent computer and technology skills
