The Highland County Health Department Registrar is responsible for recording and managing birth and death records for those who have been born in or passed away in Highland County. If you need to request a certified copy of birth or death records, please click on the link below, fill out the form, and bring or mail the form to the Highland County Health Department during regular business hours. Please note that a person who was born in Ohio can obtain a birth certificate at any local health department in Ohio.

The Registrar is responsible for organizing and maintaining genealogy index cards on those who have been born passed away in Highland County. This information is accessible to the general public during regular business hours. The Health Department will not provide copies of information or research records.

The Registrar is also an important part of the Health Department's Child Fatality Review.  Each year, the Health Department brings together a group of county health agencies, hospitals, law enforcement, doctors, and other organizations to to review any deaths of children 17 years old and younger.  This process is designed to identify causes of child death in the county, and to identify what efforts can be made to reduce the number of child fatalities in our communities.
